Rubaiyat (রুবাইয়াৎ) By Omar Khayyam Poetry Book
Omar Khayyam (ওমর খৈয়াম ) was a Persian mathematician, astronomer, philosopher and poet. He was born in the year 1048 in Nishapur, Khorasan, Iran and died 1131.
As a mathematician, he wrote an important book on Algebra named "The Treatise on Demonstration of Problems of Algebra". Here, he solved cubic equations. As an astronomer, he created a calendar where average year length is 365.2424 days. This calendar was more accurate than the Gregorian calendar of 500 years later.
He wrote about a thousand four-line verses or rubaiyat. Edward FitzGerald translated his poems from Persian to English and named the book as "Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam". The Bengali book "Rubaiyat" is a translation of the book of Edward FitzGerald.
